Comparing Models: 2015 Quattroporte S Q4

2015 Maserati Quattroporte S Q4 vs. 2016 Jaguar XJL Portfolio AWD

If you quickly glance over the lists of specs for the 2015 Quattroporte S Q4 and the 2016 XJL Portfolio AWD, they appear essentially the same on paper. With their shared 3.0L V6 engines, 8-speed automatic transmissions, all-wheel drive capabilities, and even the same 5-person seating capacity, they seem to offer the same experience. This remains true when it comes to the available safety features. With standard parking aids, backup cameras, daytime running lights, and remote engine starters, both the Quattroporte and the XJL have been crafted to keep you, your passengers, and your cargo safe. That being said, the Quattroporte does edge the XJL out with the availability of front fog lights that ensure you're ready for any weather you encounter. However, the decisive difference is in the performance. With 404 horsepower at 5,500 RPM and a top speed of 175 mph (more than 50 mph more than the XJL), the Quattroporte races ahead of the competition and proves that this vehicle was truly build for superior handling and an exhilarating ride.

Though both the Quattroporte S Q4 and XJL Portfolio AWD are both four-door sport sedans, their designs are both distinct and distinctly different. The XJL's Portfolio trim gives it a longer wheelbase, which seems to give the vehicle a lengthy, streamlined look. However, despite ostensibly being larger, the length also gives the XJL a compressed look that is matched by its slightly less roomy interior. On the other hand, the Quattroporte offers Maserati's characteristic mix of curves and edges, which give the model a balanced but bold look. Both models share aggressive, slash-like LED headlights, but there is just something about the Quattroporte's chrome trident grille that makes a stronger impression than the XJL's quietly classic counterpart. Certainly, both models have been painstakingly designed to attract attention, but if you're looking for more than a double take, the sporty but sophisticated Quattroporte is the one to choose.

The Quattroporte S Q4 and XJL Portfolio AWD both offer a spacious interior that complements their larger sedan body styles. Covered in sumptuous leather and other premium materials, both models also offer standard luxury features that you have come to expect, such as automatic climate control, superior radio and sound systems, heated and dimming door mirrors, multi-function navigation and display screens, and so on. Both the Quattroporte and XJL also offer a variety of optional packages that allow you to customize your driving experience. While the XJL also offers cooled seats in contrast to the Quattroporte's heated front and rear seats, it is Maserati that gains the upper hand with a number of other standard features unavailable to the XJL, such as a headlight washing system and rear power sun blinds. Ultimately, the Quattroporte is just roomier and more comfortable, offering 3.5 more cubic feet of cargo space, and plenty of space for your passengers to stretch out and enjoy the ride.
